Scruffy
** informal
- Lookin’ a bit scruffy
- I’ve let myself go: I’m not working on my appearance
How to use it:
“I’m pretty sure Tom didn’t even bother to go home last night as he’s still in his office and looking really scruffy.”
“You need a shave dude, you’re looking a little scruffy.”
Disheveled
- Walk of shame: wearing the same clothes the next day after a long night out
How to use it:
“He walked in looking really disheveled; I think he got into a fight at the bar.”
“After 24 hours of flying they looked understandably disheveled when we picked them up from the airport.”
To Go Grey / To Go Bald
- Silver fox: a good looking grey-haired person
- They rocked it: They showed a lot of confidence and embraced a problem
- Get rid of it: Remove it
How to use it:
“Can you believe Jason’s going bald already? He’s not even 30!”
“He went grey pretty early on, but instead of feeling down he just totally rocked it.”
Puffy Eyes
- Eye drops: medicated liquid for your eyes
- Swell up: get bigger
- That time of the month: time when a woman has her period
- Bags: wrinkles under your eyes
- Dark circles: purple spots under your eyes
How to use it:
“Every time I have a long flight, I get dehydrated and my eyes get really puffy.”
“I bought a new face mask which should make my eyes less puffy.”
